The 100 Day Project - Share and Bloom - Day 4
Project: The100DayProject.org - 100 days of Share and Bloom - Day 4
Illustrator: Jenny
ILLUSTRATOR SAYS:
The aim of my project: to provide a comfort blanket for my soul and the soul of others.
Day 4 image: Once a week, to have a break from lockdowns and Covid, a friend and I do a creative activity on Zoom. We set a theme, spend a short time expressing it creatively (drawing, colouring etc.) with nice music and then come back together to discuss it.
It’s been a beautiful way to connect with a friend remotely where we can’t see one another in person and been a nice way to keep the conversation off Covid etc.
Yesterday’s theme was ‘surrender’. This was my creation. We can think we are planning for the future to great detail, but we never know what lies ahead and it might not be the right path for us. Surrender for me is about letting go and letting life take the path it wants to take. All big things in my life 1) came with ease 2) I couldn’t have dreamed up if I tried.
I am going to surrender more. My desert island book is the Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer who chronicles his amazing life with what happens when he decided to totally surrender and see where his life took him without him taking over. Very inspiring.
Will also need continue to take action too. As the saying goes ‘pray to god but row your boat to the shore’.
Today’s creative learnings:
Learnt from a friend best times of the day to catch people with my images depending on the day of the week. Mondays is 12pm apparently, although that won’t translate globally! So during my lunch break on a course, I’m getting this post done and sent out to catch people in their Monday lunch break. In the UK at least.
As part of my learning not to be perfect, I’m not forcing myself to upload finished products. Most things in life are a work in progress. I thought about getting this image into Adobe Illustrator but figured what’s the need - in fact I enjoy the rawness of my 10 minute drawing squiggles.
Background to The 100 Day Project:
This is a project led by Lindsay Jean Thomson who is a writer and co-founder of Women Catalysts. In 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a bizarre yet life-affirming experience she chronicled for VICE.
I’d love to get your support and encouragement over the next few months if you’d like to comment and share.
Hope anything I create gives you a little bit of comfort for your soul.
