Time: As little as 10 minutes to as long as you like!

How to do the tool:

One of the best tools that has helped me get out of my mind when I'm over thinking is meditation.

I’ve spent a few years searching for meditation techniques that work for me. I use lots of different techniques rather than one set method each time. Here’s a few of my favourites:

  • Simple quietness with a lit candle in my favourite chair

  • Walking in the forest

  • Drawing

  • Mindfulness

  • Gardening

  • Journaling

  • Dancing

  • DJ-ing

I try to make time to start with meditation each day to set my day up right.

Meditation has helped me get less attached to my thoughts. I’ve realised how much chatter I have that is not real, just stories I make up in my mind. It’s lead to better relationships and sleep and I’m more loving, compassionate and forgiving of others.

If meditation hasn't worked for you so far, don't give up trying. As in the rest of life, there is something for everyone. For some it's going out for a walk in nature, others a run, others dancing, others sitting in silence, others using mantras and mala beads.
